Protect your pet from Heartworm disease

ASK ABOUT  PROHEART 6

ProHeart 6 is the only sustained release injectable for the prevention of heartworm infection for dogs.

It is the only product in the United States providing six months of continuous protection following a single dose.

Based on a survey conducted by the American Heartworm Society in 2005, the organization also reports approximately 250,000 pets in the United States tested positive for heartworm infection in 2004, which represents an increase of nearly 5 percent over the number of pets that tested positive in 2001.

About Heartworm Disease

Heartworm disease is a life-threatening canine parasite transmitted by mosquitoes that affects dogs in many parts of the world.

Spread by mosquitoes, it can cause serious damage to the heart and pulmonary arteries eventually leading to heart failure.

In severe cases, heartworm disease can damage other organs such as the liver and kidneys.

Prevention

Because heartworm disease is preventable, the American Heartworm Society recommends that pet owners take steps now to talk to their veterinarian about how to best protect their pets from this dangerous disease.

Heartworm prevention is safe, easy and inexpensive.

While treatment for heartworm disease in dogs is possible, it is a complicated and expensive process.

There is no effective treatment for heartworm disease in cats, so it is imperative that disease prevention measures be taken for cats.

There are a variety of options for preventing heartworm i nfection in both dogs and cats, including daily and monthly tablets and chewables, monthly topicals and a six-month injectable product available only for dogs. All of these methods are extremely effective, and when administered properly on a timely schedule, heartworm infection can be completely prevented. These medications interrupt heartworm development before adult worms reach the lungs and cause disease.
