Surgery

surgerySurgeries are performed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Your pet will be admitted between 8:30 am and 9:00 am.

Most surgeries patients are discharged the same day between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.

When your pet’s surgery is scheduled, you will be given instructions for pre-operative care including whether to withhold food for a time period before surgery.

Every pet gets a professional nail trim during their surgery at no charge. The staff may discuss any additional procedures that may be done while your pet is here such as; pre-operative bloodwork, IV fluids, professional dental cleaning, ear cleaning, wart removal, tear duct flush, anal sac expression etc.

It is always best for your pet to be given a bath shortly before surgery as most patients will need to be kept dry for 7-10 days post-op. Complete instructions for post-op care including rechecks and possible suture removal will be given to you when you pick up your pet.

Thorpe Animal Hospital always follows up-to-date anesthetic and pain management protocols to supplement our full surgical service including laser surgery, which reduces pain, swelling and recovery time to make the post-operative period as easy and pain free as possible for that loving member of the family.
