Dr. Tracy Thorpe

VETERINARIAN

Hello, I’m Dr. Tracy Thorpe. I started working as a veterinary assistant in 1988. I graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I graduated from Michigan State University – College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 with my D.V.M. (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). In veterinary school, I focused on small animal medicine and surgery with externships including General & Internal medicine, Spay/Neuter, Soft tissue & Orthopedic surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiology and Dermatology.

After veterinary school, I started working in private practice treating small animals including dogs, cats and small mammals (ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents). My areas of interest include surgery, dentistry, dermatology including allergy testing, animal behavior, pain management and shelter medicine.

My family and I have lived in Lapeer County since 2000. I helped start the local Paradise Animal Rescue in 2001. I enjoy gardening, hiking and spending time with my family, husband Jarrod, my two children; Samantha and Austen and my four-legged children Ariel, Flash, Scully, Strider, Eowyn, Fred and Toby!!

Our Staff

LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Hi, I’m Tracy Blandino B.A. L.V.T. I have been working with animals since I was 16, and knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I graduated from Wayne State University 1996 with a Bachelor in Zoology and obtained a job as a veterinary assistant in a clinic that same year.I realized that I loved the medical aspect of working with animals, so I decided to go back to school. I graduated from Macomb Community College with my associates in veterinary technology in 2000 and passed my state and national boards to become a licensed veterinary technician that same year.
I have been working with Dr. Thorpe ever since. My duties in the clinic include anesthesia, assisting in surgery, monitoring hospitalized and surgery patients, drawing blood , running laboratory tests, performing dental cleanings, taking and developing x-rays.
I reside in Romeo with my husband Ron and our two Rottweilers, Tocchet and Mancha. I enjoy dog training and showing my dogs in obedience and tracking.

OFFICE MANAGER

Hello, my name is Diana Bush. I am the Office Manager here at Thorpe Animal Hospital. We are all here to provide you and your loved ones with the best and most compassionate care that we can from the beginning of your loved ones vaccines to the hopefully not many, but emergencies that may arise. I have worked in the management field for the past 15 years and have had the privilege to work with Dr. Thorpe for four of those years. I enjoy working with animals and have 6 loved ones of my own with my husband Chuck. We have either rescued or adopted from animal rescues the loved ones we have now. Our oldest kitty “Sisco” was adopted from our local animal shelter. His previous owners chose to get a new puppy and did not want him anymore. So we brought him home to stay with us.
We have 2 Shepherd mixed dogs, “Duke & Daisy”, littermates we adopted from Last Chance Rescue. They enjoy running and playing all day and sleeping in bed with us at night. And finally our three youngest are cats, “Latte” our female that runs the house, and “Hemi and Tigger” littermates that run and play 24/7. They were adopted from Paradise Animal Rescue. When I am not here working at Thorpe Animal Hospital, I also work for my husband. I enjoy spending days off with my husband and our furry little family staying home and relaxing.

RECEPTIONIST

Hi, I’m Nancy Rasschaert. I am the receptionist here. It is my job to make you and your pets feel welcome and important. Whether I am answering your phone calls with pet care questions or scheduling an appointment, your 4 legged family is treated like OUR family! My goal is to assist you personally and professionally from the first “puppy stages” and beyond. When the time has come for a dignified and peaceful goodbye, I will be there to comfort and reassure you in that most difficult time also.
I currently have a “pack” of rescued dogs……4 total. “Cody and Tess”- Lab mixes, “Tanner”- Golden Retriever and “Fargo”- a mixed breed of Bernese Mountain Dog and perhaps a little Border Collie and who knows what else. I also have a rescued cat named “Rikki” with extra toes and a horse name “Story” completes my menagerie. My husband Jack, daughter Mallory and I moved to Metamora from the Royal Oak area. My spare time is spent volunteering on the Board of Directors for Paradise Animal Rescue as their current Secretary. I am also involved in the Metamora Combined Driving Event Club (carriage and buggy horse competition) and the Cross Country Equine Eventing Program.

Caroline and Frank

CAROLINE

My name is Caroline, I am a female-spayed, domestic shorthaired, tabby cat also originally rescued from the streets by a volunteer of Paradise Animal Rescue. I came to live at Thorpe Animal Hospital in fall of 2006 after a “2” year long stay at the shelter. I am still very shy and spend most of my time curled up in one of my two beds in the treatment room or in the office supervising my staff. But, if you keep your eyes open you may see me on occasion.

FRANK

Hi, I’m Frank better known as "Super Frank". I am black, male-neutered, domestic shorthaired kitty originally rescued from the streets by a volunteer at Paradise Animal Rescue. I came to live at Thorpe Animal Hospital in fall of 2006 after a year long stay at the shelter. I was very shy and scared of people for a long time, but now I am king of my own castle. You will surely see me almost every time you stop by. I am usually on top of my tower bird watching in my very own garden.
